ONLINE: Book Arts: The Secret Lives of Cubes with Paula Beardell Krieg

The cube is a shape that keeps on giving.

Inquiry into this form leads to enchanting discoveries and motivates unique methods of expression. This three-session virtual class will be a fun romp through the study and construction of solid forms, including an introduction to the language and classification of solids, all through the lens of the cube. Prepare to be surprised by the many secrets embedded in a simple cube.

Black and White PDFs will be emailed to all students as part of the class.

Paula Beardell Krieg (she/her) has been a paper enthusiast for as long as she can remember, taking particular delight in 3D paper transformations. For thirty years she collaborated regularly with classroom teachers to create engaging and dynamic projects for all age groups.

Her adult workshops have taken place on zoom in and person both locally and in person at institutions ranging from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Center for Book Arts, the Museum of Mathematics, and small local venues.

Krieg regular shows her work at the Bridges Mathematics and the Arts Exhibitions, has had her work published in numerous books including ones by Helen Hiebert and Diane Mauer, and, since 2009, has written about paper and book arts on her blog Bookzoompa which is located at: https://bookzoompa.wordpress.com/
