ONLINE: Artists' Books Inspired by Science with Erwin Huebner

 

The talk will be an exploration into the process, materials, and end results in creating a science-based artist's book. Erwin will give a brief personal history with respect to science and book arts.

 

A selection of examples of books Erwin has made that were inspired by the natural world and science stories will be presented. This will include what inspired the books and the process of creating them.

 

Erwin Huebner: I grew up in a family of artists in Alberta. After a PhD in Cell Biology, I have been a Professor at the University specializing in cell and developmental biology and am now Professor Emeritus. I have also pursued a variety of artistic endeavors over the years including photography, photomicrography, intaglio, photo etching, and book arts. I currently am Artist in Residence at the University of Manitoba specializing in book arts and various print media.
