Boxed Set: Artists Books that tell Small Tall Tales

Instructors: Visiting Book Artist Manu Buechting and Don Taylor

Location: Taylor & Beatty Bindery, 222 Islington Ave Unit 224, Toronto (Etobicoke)

Duration: 2 days, Saturday, August 6, & Sunday, August 7, 2016

Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Course fee: $230 members/ $290 non-members

Materials fee: $20 payable to the instructor

Prerequisite: None


In Celebration of "Season's" join us for a two-day immersion in the book arts. Explore folded structures, paste paper monoprints, stencil techniques and album forms. Print, cut, draw and tell stories. (Trading will be encouraged). The reward will be a collection of unique, small-format artist's books all housed in a fold-up box.

Manuela Büchting is a documentarian, media educator, illustrator and graphic artist. She studied Fine Arts in Braunschweig, Germany, and finished an MFA in Documentary Media in Toronto. She was a Work-Study in Literary Arts at The Banff Centre and worked on various projects with bookbinders and media artists. During that time at The Banff Centre, she started her books arts press, deer press, publishing artist books from Canada and Europe. manubuechting.com / deerpress.com


Don Taylor is a bookbinder and restorer who works and teaches in Toronto. He was trained in bookbinding and design at Sheridan College and the Three Schools of Art and has studied with Betsy Palmer Eldridge. His work is exhibited widely and is represented in public and private collections across Canada. He has taught for CBBAG since 1984. www.dontaylorbookbinder.com
