Conservation

Books and other works on paper are subject to many indignities during the course of their life: physical, biological, and chemical. If these works are considered important, great care will be expended to prevent as many of these indignities as possible, or to lessen their effects. The work of conservators in both public and private libraries, museums, and archives is to allow our great-grandchildren to know that which informed our lives, and those of our great-grandparents, and which we treasured.
